“I’m Ready” may be the title of latest single from Bahamian beauty Angelique Sabrina, but it’s very clear that this rising star has been ready for stardom. From a tender age the young performer was aware of her itch for the stage. While giving credit to her Caribbean roots Angelique is a natural born performer who’s been hard at work fulfilling her dreams.
Born into a musically inclined family Angelique was given the opportunity to not only admire music, but also become a student of the craft. Spending most of her childhood learning the piano, guitar, and drums exposed her to the hard work behind a hit song early on. As the daughter of Gregg White who signed the hip-hop group Arrested Development it doesn’t hurt to have a veteran in the industry as a guide.
Often referred to as “the next Rihanna” it’s apparent that Angelique Sabrina is a strong enough artist to stand on her own name. After recently performing the national anthem and dubbed as Cable Bahamas “golden girl” this determined teenager is definitely cut from a different cloth. As other 16-year-old girls are posting their #MCM’s (Man Crush Mondays) all over Instagram and social media Angelique is cutting the track to “I’m Ready.” The lyrics to the sultry single read: All my life/I’ve been waiting for this moment/My first time/ and I’m keeping my heart open/Butterflies/ keep trembling inside/I don’t know why/ but it feels so right.” Although it may sound a tad questionable the track is all about experiencing your first love, which is still age appropriate for any teenager to want to sing.
During our sit down Angelique was able to reflect on her growth through her journey in following her dreams. For example, the amount of sacrificing and time it takes to master an individual craft. Whether its time spent in the studio or in rehearsal there are typical experiences the singer has accepted to delay in pursuit of her passion. She stated, “Most importantly this is what I always wanted and I understand what comes a long with the decision.” Her wisdom was well beyond her years that most twenty year olds in the states struggle to understand.
Her amount of determination is one to commend, alongside her love for the craft. As Angelique described her creating process as staying authentic and true to herself is not too common to hear. For years, we’ve heard artist confess to conforming to trends and the demands of executives to reach a certain amount of sales. Angelique on the other hand responded with an assurance in herself and where her vision lays. Working with credible producers like Rockwilder its safe to say that the future of this rising diva is already set in stone.
