After Kim Kardashian set to break the internet with her ass-ets last week on the cover of Paper, Solange, in her own right, caused quite a stir as photos of her nuptials to 51 year old music video director Alan Ferguson were released. #breaktheinternet accompanied photos that were flooded on our Instagram, twitter, and facebook feeds. The photos popped up on blogs, I mean really, Solange and her famous family were everywhere.
Her wedding was a three day celebration in New Orleans starting on Friday night with a movie night showing of ‘Mahogany’, the couple’s first date movie followed by the couple biking on white bikes to their ceremony, and then the ceremony itself. Solange had two unconventional wedding day ensembles that we loved!
During the bike ride, Solange wore a cream jumpsuit with attached cape designed by Stephane Rolland. Her dress for the ceremony was designed by good friend Humberto Leon. Solange’s wedding was definitely all about family, friends and love. There were performances by Kelela, Questlove, and Kindness with her walking the aisle to an instrumental version of Donny Hathaway’s, “I Love the Lord, He Heard My Cry.”
Nothing extravagant, simple, and true to herself. Afterall, that is what it is all about, not the fanfare and the hoopla that a wedding can create especially when you are a part of the Knowles clan and your sister and brother-in-law include the likes of Beyonce and Jay-Z.
