Children of the nineties and Dragonball Z fans everywhere UNITE! Goku and the Z Fighters are back in “Dragonball Z: Battle of The Gods!” This time Goku and his friends must face Beerus, god of destruction. Bloodthirsty and bored, he comes to Earth to fight Goku, considering him a worthy opponent. There’s just one problem–he wants to destroy the Earth in the process! Saiyans, Namekians, humans, and Androids unite to take down this force of chaos and banish him back to his own realm! To do so Goku will have to become more than a Super Saiyan–Godhood is the answer!
This is one highly anticipated film. Even though it was released in Japan nationwide back in March 2013, it’s American debut is creating quite the uproar. It has been over seventeen years since a Dragonball movie had a theatrical release. Even more interesting, is this film actually fits into the Dragonball timeline, set between chapters 517 and 518 of the original manga during the ten-year time skip. Creator, Akira Toriyama, was heavily involved in the development of this project. This is refreshing! It means someone new will not be trying to out their own personal twists on already classic and beloved characters.
From the trailer we are seeing some interesting twists and developments. First off Goku’s hair is red in what should be his Super Saiyan form! What does this mean? The trailer shows there was a Saiyan god. Is this what Goku’s most powerful was meant to be? All our favorite characters are in the film too– Vegeta, Piccolo, Crillen, Gohan, and even Android 18 is joining in the fray! Naturally, the fight scenes are epic. However, it’s clear Goku is going to need way more than a Spirit Bomb, Kamehameha Wave, or Instant Transmission to take this villain down.
