The Grammy Awards–music’s biggest night of the year is finally kicking off. After an eventful year of music, This year’s Grammy ceremony is going to be a clash of the titans, and is set with a line-up of heavyweights i.e. Beyoncé, Adele and Drake. Said to have notable tributes to this past year’s fallen stars (Prince and George Michael).
Solange, seems to understand having confidence behind fashion–and that’s what I love about her. Stepping out in a gold dress and rocking a stylish up-do of curls, Solange was among the night’s best dressed.
A definite style-star of this year’s Grammy ceremony. Lea Michelle hit the carpet in a sheer, floral halter-top gown. Serving up one of my favorite looks of the evening, singer-songwriter Cassadee Pope shone bright in a metallic gunmetal gown with plunging neckline. 2017 Best R&B Album nom Mya hit the carpet in an all red suit with flare-leg pant. Sibley’s gown, was a festive but smart ensemble. A glittering gown cut down the center with a sheer bodice that definitely made my personal list of best-dressed.
Grammy-star Adele has won my approval this year. Typically one to don safe, neutral frocks with little character–I’m happy to see her step out of her comfort zone a little. The singer wore a chartreuse colored patterned dress with metallic embroidery along with cuffs.
Having appeared later on in the show, Beyonce was the style-star of this year’s Grammy show. The glowing diva wore a gold halo of roses with and a beaded dress for her performance, later switching to a glittering ruby evening gown. Beyonce never fails to amaze.
I could start this one with the kind of compliments people give before getting down to the nitty-gritty (and potentially shady) truth. But I’m just gonna cut our girl some slack and give an “A for effort.” I’m a big follower of doing black. But, you have to remember it isn’t what you do–it’s how you do it. This look wasn’t as grown-and-sexy and it should have been.
Jill Scott also surprised me this time around, and not in a good way. I enjoy her eclectic and spirited sense of fashion, however she missed the mark by a mile here. Looks like someone got lost in the Ann Taylor out-let (no shade). As for the no’s of this review–some things are just self-explanatory. Jacqueline Van Bierk and Girl Crush.
