Last year, H&M and singer The Weeknd announced a collaboration to produce a collection that will be available to consumers this year. The collection is called “Spring Icons Selected by The Weeknd” and will feature menswear pieces inspired by XO brand and The Weeknd’s personal style.
H&M is known as a store that provides its customers with high fashion looks at very affordable prices. It’s also notorious for its collaborative collections, which usually feature special pieces from high fashion designers. These collections become very popular and are sometimes expected to sell out in a matter of hours or days. Normally the collections consist of garments for both men and women, however, certain collections can exclusively offer only menswear or womenswear.
Last year H&M partnered with Kenzo, a Japanese fashion brand. The collection featured a lot of color and very detailed patterns. In previous years H&M also partnered with Alexander Wang and Balmain; Wang created a high fashion athletic/casual wear experience with a boxing theme. On the other hand, the collection with Balmain aimed to dress customers all the way up with sparkle and shine.

The Weeknd’s collection with H&M will consist of t-shirts, hoodies, denim, sweatshirts, and leather jackets. Some of the pieces will be stamped with the singer’s XO brand logo. Unfortunately, most of the clothes appear to be no different than items that H&M already carry. The collection seems to be more style inspired rather than a creation of unique garments for H&M customers like past collaborative collections.
This is the first collaborative collection that H&M has produced without an actual designer or owner of a clothing brand. There’s no doubt that all of the items are things that The Weeknd would wear and may have even chosen himself, however, there are no traces of original design on these clothes. The reason might be that he’s planning on formally releasing a line later on this year. The Weeknd is partnering with Puma to design sneakers and apparel, the line will be titled PumaXO.
The collection will be available in H&M stores on March 2nd. Check out a few of the pieces that are offered below.
