Covergirl announced their newest brown beauty Brand Ambassador; Issa Rae.

After gaining a massive following from her YouTube web series, Awkward Black Girl, Rae has been unstoppable.

In October 2016, Issa took the HBO network by storm with her comedy-drama series, Insecure. Issa went from the being the awkward black girl to being the insecure black girl that fans can seem to get enough of.

Life is all about excelling and reaching your peak!

This accomplishment is only the beginning of what Issa will accomplish in her career.

A spokesperson from Covergirl stated, “With her characteristic wit and charm, unique observations on life and culture, and outspoken but relatable nature, Issa truly embodies the CoverGirl spirit of inclusive self-expression, inspiring people to embrace what makes them unique and confidently represent that to the world.”

Self-expression seems to be a trait that Issa is all for. Which is one of the many reasons why she is ranted and raved over. A person who isn’t afraid to be who they are with no apologies will always live a happy life.

After the announcement, Issa shared her excitement for this grand opportunity.

I remember being an awkward black girl in high school, reading the pages of my favorite magazines, casually flipping through @COVERGIRL ads, singing their slogan in my head. Never EVER in my life did I imagine I’d be one. I am SO honored and SO excited for what’s to come.

Rae’s addition to the Covergirl family only further confirms that even after over 20 years, this brand still advocates for diversity and the equality of all indivuals.
