Jeezy dodged a bullet today (No pun intended). The Atlanta rap star was cleared of gun charges from an incident that happened back in August. At a concert held in Irvine, California at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre featuring Jeezy and Wiz Khalifa, a fan was shot and killed. Jeezy’s tour bus was check by police officers for a marijuana scent in the air and they found an assault rifle that they believed belonged to the rapper. Jeezy and five of his associate were arrested. Today, the court decided to drop those charges. Jeezy had this to say:
“I pray this had nothing to do with race but it definitely had nothing to do with evidence. Words cannot express how vindicated I feel with these charges being dismissed today. While my team and I always knew that the allegations and charges were based on zero facts, the rush to judgment by both the media and the police has been extremely disappointing. I’m relieved that the truth has ultimately prevailed and I would like to thank those who have always stood by me including my family and fans.”
Sources say the whole arrest was kind of sketchy. The police entered the bus with a questionable search warrant and seized the weapons that were lawfully owned by Jeezy’s security. The weapons were checked, cleared, and given back to the rapper’s security director. After Jeezy and his associates were booked, the police forced Orange County DA to interrogate them and to set their bail at $1 million which clocks out way over the normal bail fee for that type of charge.
