Justin Timberlake (@jtimberlake) Tries–and FAILS-to defend Himself Over Tweet About Jesse William’s Acceptance Speech at BET Awards!

This year’s BET Awards are by the far the best in the history of the entire network. From pre-show to finish, BET really pulled out all of the stops! However, Jesse Williams’ acceptance speech after receiving the BET Humanitarian Award, is the real talk of the town. The socially conscious Grey’s Anatomy actor eloquently and powerfully denounced racism, the appropriation of Black culture by White artists, discrimination, and police brutality.

Singer, Justin Timberlake, took to Twitter to support Jesse with the following tweet, but things went ugly when Ernest Owens, a talk show host and columnist asked him a very relevant question.

YIKES! Justin’s responded with:

Justin was immediately dragged by the Twittersphere for not answering Owens’ question, and reminded of how Janet Jackson was banned from the 2004 Grammys after he exposed her breast. Justin has never issued a public apology to Janet after this incident, and from the way he tried to “apologize” he never will.

Justin we get that you are not an activist or usually socially conscious in any way. However, Ernest brought up a very valid point that many White artists and celebrities must answer for. Amandla Stenberg once called out Kylie Jenner for the same thing. “When u appropriate  black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans…” We see your apology Mr. Timberlake, but it is by no means heartfelt. Be better and do better!

Hey Mikey!

WHO AM I? That’s probably what you’re thinking? It’s simple I’m this generation’s “Dear Abby!” I was raised in the Fourth Ward of Atlanta, educated in the School of Hard Knocks, and rescued by the concrete and steel of New York City. Life at best will always be bittersweet. The sooner you accept that, the better off you’ll be. I’d prefer to be on your sweeter side. Everyone needs a listening ear, extra shoulder, and open arms when life gets rough. I’m your new best friend, where it all goes south remember I’m a mouse click or tweet away. Hang in there kids, you’re gonna love kickin’ it with me!!! -Michael Jonvier
