Kanye West’s “Yeezus Tour” was always going to set tongues wagging. Nobody expected him to bring a Jesus Christ lookalike onto the stage, but it did happen. And yes, it was triflin’. So, really it’s only right that the newly engaged “rock star” would accompany the third coming of Christ amidst a backdrop of his hits such as “Black Skinhead” and “I Am God”, that the tour merchandise should be equally as provocative.
The tour tees and sweaters incorporate graphic imagery of the Confederate Flag and a skull donning a Native American headdress. One image even depicts the Grim Reaper wearing the Confederate Flag. It’s clear that Yeezy fully intends to mow ahead with his political campaign, shunning corporate America and everything the stands for. The question is, will fans understand the irony of rocking the American Flags or the significance of rocking a Native American headdress? The line which includes tees, sweatshirts, Trucker hats and Tote bags range from $20 to $80. Reasonable.
I love Yeezy, but for somebody who claims to hate so much of the spotlight on him and his family… he’s doing an awful lot to keep our attention.
