Does Blue Ivy look like she cares what a hater gotta say? #FLAWLESS
Karrueche Tran’s week went from great to gruesome in the matter of 15 seconds, while guest hosting on BET’s 106 & Park this past Monday. She was prompted to act out the “top six things Blue Ivy thought about the VMAs.” On cue she read from the prompter as Blue Ivy, “I really did wake up like this because my parents never combed my hair.” She then laughed and quickly said, “Sorry, Blue! I love you!
But the damage was already done. Almost immediately the #Beyhive (Beyonce fans) and #Navy (Rihanna fans) began reading her for filth via every social media outlet possible. It got downright ugly and extremely threatening; Karrueche actually received death threats.
She posted to her Instagram page the following picture and caption:
“Past two days have been extremely draining.. As I geared up for a big day for myself – hosting a live show.. I never expected things to turn out this way.. I apologize to any and everyone who felt offended in any way by the comments made by BET executed through me.. I would never disrespect anyone’s child in any way and anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE Beyoncé. My comments have been in complete shambles.. yes I am human too and yes I do make mistakes.. But all this negativity and death wishes are quite a lot.. Definitely a lesson learned from here forth.. Again, on behalf of MYSELF, my sincerest apologies ❤️ #BeyHive”
Karrueche also released an official statement pretty much throwing BET under the bus:
“I am a huge Beyonce fan and I love Blue Ivy. I apologize for the comment and wish I had a chance to review the revised script so that I could have avoided participating in that segment. I love that Blue is able to wear her natural hair. I laugh when I am nervous and when I registered what I had just said, I of course was taken aback.”
President of Music Programming and Specials for BET Networks, Stephen G. Hill also released a statement via Twitter because the outcry was loud and the Beygency was out for blood.
“Last night on 106 & Park there was a stupid, unthoughtful joke made about a young child. We apologize publically to the child’s parents (and have done so privately) and we have taken punitive actions with those responsible. It was very bad judgment and we will serve you much better in the future. Oh, and please don’t hate on Karrueche; it was NOT her fault. We also apologize to her for putting her in that position.”
The “joke” was immensely offensive and tasteless. I’m not sure what’s going on over at BET but most of their latest trending topics have ended in utter disaster, whether online or on air. Many still blame Karrueche, but she was just doing her job. The irony is August Alsina checked Keshia Chante for a very similar occurrence on the exact same show, yet people said he was wrong because “she was just doing her job.” Anyone see something wrong with this picture?
At the end of the day, Blue’s hair is no one’s concern except Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s . That’s why Blue is around here swerving folks.
Word on the street is 106 and Park is on hiatus because the producers and writers for 106 and Park are getting axed for this stunt. Shad Moss, a.k.a. Bow Wow, said that’s not the case and the hiatus was planned. This is all just too much…
[…] it is usually where the problem lies. This certainly won’t have the same ramifications of the Karrueche vs. Blue Ivy incident […]
BET, to even think that would go over well, shame on you! All the Black Girls Rock! ish cool unless we talking about natural hair I guess. Karrueche is a deer in headlights; ALWAYS caught off guard. One would think she’d be a little quicker by now.
I actually really love Blue’s hair. it’s gorgeous.
Blue is somewhere being flawless in all her natural glory! It’s almost hilarious how tasteless and desperate for relevance BET is…smh
Ignorance at it’s finest! How do you celebrate her mother and demean her child. Natural is free! Let her live!
Yeah… everybody makes mistakes… Poor baby Blue tho…
This poor chile can’t catch a break. smh
BET was dead wrong and disgusting to even write that about a child. As a company you’re suppose to have a certain standard to uphold. The things people do for ratings these days are pathetic.
BET is wrong for putting Karruche in that position!
Poor Karruche…I mean people do the most. Life threats? really? She doesn’t deserve that…As far as the comment it shouldn’t of even made its way to BETs prompt screen or w/e u call it.
