We are back at it again helping you to understand the proper name of a print you may see or wear!
The next print up is called “Chinoiserie”. Now I know this is probably a commonly foreign word to most of mens vocabulary, but probably not so foreign to their eye! It is a print originally made big in china but has surfaced in the states and gone big also.
What exactly is “Chinoiserie”? you ask.
It is a pattern that is influenced by Eastern elements such as dragons, animals and flowers.
Officially defined as: the imitation or evocation of Chinese motifs and techniques in Western art, furniture, and architecture, especially in the 18th century.
These are some examples of what the print looks like and where the inspiration comes from. As you can see these are very much inspired by color and intricate design details that make a compelling overall story and visual that is eye catching yet subtle and calm in its own way!
Dolce & Gabbna has recently released a collection geared toward this amazing print which match a great fit with a great sight. The fabric is inviting and yet has a sense of calmness!
