For our 1st official Best Beauty Buys, we chatted with some of the top key, makeup artists, hairstylists, and manicurists to find out which products they can’t get enough of. Below we have Alex’s top 8 Foundations and Cover-ups. ENJOY!!
Primer- Primers are necessary if you want your makeup to last throughout the day and so that your skin can appear as smooth and flawless as possible. Imagine paint your walls without first applying a primer, same thing with makeup. It “primes” the skin so that whatever product you put on top goes on effortlessly. My favorites are Milk of Magnesia, this is an OLD SCHOOL trick that leaves your skin matte for an entire day and your makeup won’t move an inch. For everyday, I love using the Becca Ever Matte Poreless Primer because it’s not drying on the skin but still allows the skin to stay put and matte. Perfect for the hot climate we have been experiencing.
Mineral foundation-My favorite Mineral product is a pressed powder by MAC called the Mineralized Skinfinish Natural. It has very sheer coverage which means your skin shows through and it’s not heavy at all but still gives the skin a finished look as if you have in foundation
Concealer-For a medium to full coverage, I am loving the MAC Studio Finish concealer. It’s a cream texture so it’s easy to blend and apply. The coverage is buildable which means you can wear just a little or add another layer to cover more of your imperfections.
Tinted Moisturizer-–Laura Mercier has an amazing tinted moisturizer with a wide range of colors. It is very moisturizing so the skin doesn’t feel dry and you don’t feel like you have any makeup on. A quick tip is to take your daily facial Moisturizer and mix your favorite foundation with it on the back of your hand, apply it with a stopping brush and you have your very own “tinted moisturizer”.
Powder Foundation-If the mineral powder doesn’t cover enough, I’m a big fan personally of the which is a foundation powder that has buildable coverage.
Liquid Foundation-In my kit I love the because it allows the skin to look like skin. The finish is a very natural finish, not too matte and not to glowy.
Foundation Brush- One of the best brushes to use for liquid foundation is the Bdellium Tools 953 brush which is a short stippling brush that buffs the product into the skin and gives it an airbrushed finished. Very flawless.
Makeup-Remover Wipes- I use the Neutrogena wipes on my clients that you can get from the drug store. They remove makeup easily and are inexpensive. They are also gentle on the skin and don’t burn or irritate the skin.
