Since her portrayal of Beloved alongside Oprah Winphrey, most film buffs knew Thandie Newton was a theatrical force to be reckoned with. Through the years of watching her character performances, Newton has yet to disappoint. Usually when an actor tries their hand at all film genres, there’s always that one movie where it leaves a viewer feeling like it wasn’t the best character fit. As it goes with Newton, having successfully owned many characters in an array of film types, one can more or less be emphatically convinced her performance will be nothing short of stellar.
This time around, the British actress sinks her chops into the lead role of a new television series called “Rogue.” In it, she plays a woman named “Grace,” an undercover cop on a mission to infiltrate the underworld of prescription drug trade. Having gone “too deep” into her investigation, she pays an ultimate price over the suspicion of a mole in the drug ring. Her family suffers a tragic loss and is all but shattered when “Grace” grows an obsession with discovering who is responsible for the calamity that haunts her to the core. How deep into the darkness of the human psyche will it take her? Will she ever recover from the grief and guilt she secretly carries? Will she be able to face herself and her perpetrators without blowing her cover?
