No stranger to the entertainment scene and one who has experientially worked in music, television and film/music production for many years, Actor/Signer & Songwriter Keith Robinson keeps blazing the industry with his fresh, soulful sounds and talent. With a new single released entitled “Love Somebody” from his upcoming album debut “Love Episodic”, Keith Robinson encourages the public to stay tuned to many more great things to come.
In our recent interview with Keith to get the inside scoop on new ventures and his journey, the question was asked how he has managed to handle the pressure of staying relevant and cutting edge as an artist in a highly competitive market. He explains, “Really, I just believe that as long as I am true to what I feel and deliver that to my audience, that’s all that matters. The rest just happens.” And true to himself, he is! In fact, in just speaking to him, it’s pretty clear that this Keith is not only a humble artist, but also very genuine. This same notion is definitely impressed upon his creative work across the board whether it be in film, production, writing, or in his music.
In terms of his music, Keith has been one to always appreciate the classic 90’s R&B era and has reflected a similar yet modern style of this era through his songs he produces today. With a conglomerate of film and television productions under his belt including his most recent projects Cru, Saints and Sinners and Zodiac Sign of the American Ghetto, Keith Robinson tells us that these are but a few of things he is totally excited to be involved in. With a very early career playing key roles in television and film including Dreamgirls and Get on Up, Keith continued to diligently work on his music which eventually paid off in securing projects where his songs would be featured. Speaking of which, his upcoming musical drama Saints and Sinners will feature a soundtrack he is a part of including a hot duet with Mary Mary Singer Erica Campbell. The album also includes music featuring LeCrae, Outkast, Monica, Deitrick Haddon, Kelly Price and more.
When asking Keith if he feels more passionate about his music or his acting, he says, “I’ve been doing music for a very long time, really just as long as I’ve been acting. I couldn’t say that one is more of a passion than the other. Both are dear to me because I’m doing what I love.” And speaking of Saints and Sinners, he further explains that the reason that they wanted to showcase a variety of artists is to portray a variation of both secular and gospel/inspirational songs emphasizing how a lot of music is born in the church and lays a certain foundation in people’s lives. Keith plays the role of a former R&B star who now is a choir director seeking to find new direction for his life. Saints and Sinners is set to air on Bounce TV in February 2016.
Along with Keith’s many exciting ventures in entertainment as mentioned, another big stride in his career we talked about is his new company called Scenes and Songs. Scenes and Songs is his proprietary music and film production company that seeks to endorse, promote and develop up and coming entertainers in a manner that will position them for greater successes and exposure in the industry. Along with his company launch, Keith Robinson has collaborated with Street Smart Entertainment – An independent strategic marketing and promotional record company with a “diverse roster of recording artists and relentless campaigns to develop profit centers in independent distribution, merchandise and concert production.” The two companies working collectively prove to be a dynamic team in their respective areas. Keith Robinson’s brilliant moves and diligent efforts to build his vision as a leading artist and producer along with helping other like-minded artists to do the same, we know shall without fail grow immeasurably.
