During the months of December through February, the bar is raised when it comes to style. Because this is the coldest time of year, your layering game is expected to be on point, the dopest hats are pulled out of the closet, and some of the most unique jackets and coats make their annual debut. On top of that though, this is also holiday season so there’s a million parties and events that require something a bit more fancy than the usual after 5 attire.
Now if you know me, you know that I am all for dressing up. Casual is cool and all, but to me there is nothing like a bomb dress and the perfect heels (hint why I am always wearing them). The thing is though, while this is the season of sparkling cocktail dresses and gowns, this is also the season of cold nights, and the fabric of these dresses generally isn’t too thick. As a lady, sometimes it can be hard to dress for the occasion and at the same time stay warm. It’s a sacrifice. Do you want to be cute or cozy? Usually we choose to be cute and just hope we survive the walk from the car to the building and that there is some heat once we get inside. But this dress from High Maintenance Boutique, may have solved that problem.
The Kimberly Sweater Dress is the perfect garment for not-too-formal events where you want to do a little bit more than dress pants and a blouse or the usual midi dress. It fits the curves perfectly and has a modest length split in the back. What makes it different is technically it is a sweater dress, but usually when you think of such, you don’t think of anything past the knee. It takes a whole new approach and adds a new meaning of sexy to the word sweater. On top of that, it’s WARM. Now I am not saying just don’t wear a coat because you all of a sudden you’re all toasty or whatever but it does make that short walk outside more bearable.
Honestly, I don’t en wear sweater dresses that often. I literally own like 2 in my whole wardrobe (which is pretty extensive) and this is actually the second one lol. I had to think of what would be the perfect accessories because it really doesn’t need alot. Because of its hue, I knew accessories would be silver but that’s about it. For a pop of color I added a complimenting shade of magenta and to keep it chic, of course I paired it with the classic black shoes and clutch. All in all, it is the perfect look for cocktail parties or date night (for the non-single people lol) during the last few weeks of cool nights. After all these years, the problem of choosing to be cute or cozy has officially been solved!
