Kristin’s Kontrol Kravings: Don Antonio’s by Starita

First word I think of when referring to Da Antonio’s is “Family”! A loving, hardworking family that takes pride in their food… Especially their famous Neapolitan pizzas! Opened in February of 2012 by 3rd generation Neapolitan pizza owner, Antonio Starita, Don Antonio’s made an instant buzz!

Let’s me start off with saying that everything, including the cheese, is made “in house” all from scratch and from the best local ingredients which makes Don Antonio’s food even BETTER! I started off with the fresh and flavorful “Insalata Di Pesche E Lampone” which is made up of fresh local Georgia peaches on a bed of arugula, parmigiano reggiano, balsamic vinegar, and extra virgin olive oil. Which was a nice way to get my meal going. Don Antonio’s is known for their famous pizzas and I couldn’t wait to dive right in with the “Margherita” pizza. Made with their home made mozzarella (which you can actually watch being made in the OPEN KITCHEN), tomato sauce, and fresh basil…. I instantly fell in love! And when I thought it couldn’t get any better I tried the “Calzone Stone Mountain”…. IT HAS COLLARD GREENS IN IT! I’m a Georgia born/Georgia Raised country girl, so I love my collard greens, and this Calzone won my approval!!! The pizzas are all cooked in the Valcano oven which cooks at a scorching 900 degrees in 90 seconds… Yes, you read that right… 90 SECONDS!

Be sure to treat yourself to the “A.T.L.” (Don Antonio’s twist on the “Long Island”) during these hot seasons. Homemade tea that is infused for over 24hrs, mixed with simple syrup, lime juice, freshly sliced Georgia peaches and bourbon. I couldn’t resist treating myself to two LOL!

The food is outstanding, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is amazing! “#1 a Pizza in New York” says New York magazine, “Best Pizza” in the state of NY by Good Network, amongst the top “Best Pizza Places in the US” by Food and Wine. With locations in New York, Naples, Italy, and their newest location in Atlanta, Georgia, you have to make sure to satisfy your taste buds at Don Antonio’s.
