Lil Mama gives her fashion praise to superstars like Grace Jones, Whitney Houston, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Missy Elliot, and her mentor, MC Lyte. “They let me know that I didn’t have to wear makeup. I can pull my hair back, with no makeup, and wear baggy clothes and still be sexy and still be cool; still spit crazy rhymes and just be…crazy, sexy, cool!”

Lil Mama knows she was put on this earth to do big things. When asked what advice that her mother would have for her at this point in her career, the answer was inspiring. “My mother’s advice would be what her advice has always been, ‘Do you’re numbers, Ma’. It’s funny that my mother would always say that because when I think about numbers now that I’m older, I know that I was born 9 pounds, 13 ounces. My weight was my dad’s mom’s birthday, September 13th. I was born October 4th and that is my mom’s mom’s birthday. When I think about being born on my mother’s, mother’s birthday and my weight being the date of my father’s mother’s birthday, I know that I was meant to be here. I know that I was meant to do it big.
