Live, Love, & LAUGH! Chris Rock & Rosario Dawson Keep It Real and Funny in “Top Five!”

Chris Rock is an amazing comedian. Time and again he has done and said some of the funniest things anyone could think of. Before you knew who Kevin Hart was or dared to find Mike Epps annoyingly funny as “Day-Day” in the “Friday” movies, this was our “go to guy” for laughs. Well, Chris has not failed us yet! He is delivering laughs and love in his latest movie, “Top Five!”

“Top Five” refers to your top five favorite rappers; and how it fits into the overall them of the movie is something rather hilarious and awkward at the same time. Then again, it could also refer to the many comedians and actors in the film. Perhaps one of your top five are in it. This flick is nothing short of star studded with appearances from Kevin Hart, Whoopi Goldberg, Adam Sandler,  Ben Stiller, Gabrielle Union, Karlie Redd, Cedric The Entertainer, Romany Malco, J.B. Smoove, and Gibourni Sidibe amongst many others.

Chris Rock & Rosario Dawson Film In NYC

The film centers around “Andre Allen (Chris Rock)” a comedian who no longer wants to be viewed as funny, wanting to become a serious actor. However, the public is not so keen on letting the laughs go after three hit films of “Hammy;” where Andre was a talking bear. Desperate to toughen up his image he produces and stars in a controversial film, “Uprizing” about the Haitian slave rebellion in the 1800s. He meets a reporter (Rosario Dawson) whose own complicated career and love life may just lead him into a real life fairy tale love of his own.

This film was great! I have to admit it began a little all over the place, but as it progresses you will find it is filled with humor for everyone. There’s goofy humor, dirty humor, and even social satire to keep you entertained and wondering what will happen next. I have to say this is one of the most well written comedies I have ever seen. You find yourself wanting Andre to be taken seriously, fall in love for the right reasons, and just be a happy guy. Just as entertaining is Rosario. She may not always be in the limelight of Hollywood, but when she takes on a role you NEVER forget it. Not even Disney could make a Cinderella as beautiful and earthy as she is!

Be sure you check out “Top Five” this Friday in theaters everywhere nationwide! Let me forewarn you, however, do not eat a big meal. Your sides just might burst!

Hey Mikey!

WHO AM I? That’s probably what you’re thinking? It’s simple I’m this generation’s “Dear Abby!” I was raised in the Fourth Ward of Atlanta, educated in the School of Hard Knocks, and rescued by the concrete and steel of New York City. Life at best will always be bittersweet. The sooner you accept that, the better off you’ll be. I’d prefer to be on your sweeter side. Everyone needs a listening ear, extra shoulder, and open arms when life gets rough. I’m your new best friend, where it all goes south remember I’m a mouse click or tweet away. Hang in there kids, you’re gonna love kickin’ it with me!!! -Michael Jonvier
