On Thursday, February 13, Kontrol Magazine was invited by Carlton “Mr. Couture” Morton to a VIP screening of the creative Netflix Reality Dating Show, Love is Blind, at Cynthia Bailey’s The Bailey Wine Cellar in Atlanta, GA. The event was sponsored by Stella Rosa wines and packed with the elite of Atlanta’s reality stars and decision-makers.
Carlton was certainly emotional about his time on the show. He shared the story behind the scenes: “They definitely edit a lot on the show. I was made to look like a player. The ladies were calling me ‘Cassanova Carlton.’ But it was a life-changing experience.” You’ll have to watch to see how Carlton’s love journey plays out.
You may have some questions about this new show--we certainly did. The first installment of the show dropped February 13th, so let’s help you brush up on your Love Is Blind knowledge. The show centers around couples who decide to spend forever together without ever actually seeing each other.
Here’s everything we know about the incredible new show.
What is Love Is Blind?
The show is a cross between The Circle, 90 Day Fiancé, and Blind Date. According to Netflix: A group of men and women will be isolated from the rest of society and given the opportunity to talk to potential partners while in individual pods. They are not talking face-to-face, and have no idea how their partners look. Conversations start with small talk, eventually growing into meaningful exchanges. The contestants then choose that one special person and have the opportunity to get engaged—all without ever having met.
After they get engaged, the couples get to meet in-person for the first time. Together, they’re released back into the real world to plan their wedding. Drama is all throughout this show, but hey that’s relationships!
Who’s hosting Love Is Blind?
The show is hosted by Nick Lachey, from the boy band 98 Degrees, and his wife, Vanessa Lachey, will host the series together. The two have hosted shows before: Nick hosted the NBC a capella reality show The Sing-Off, and Vanessa has been a New York-based correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and co-hosted MTV’s Total Request Live.
When’s the release date?
Netflix will air a total of 10 episodes over the course of three weeks, a similar structure to how they released Rhythm + Flow. The first five episodes will be released on February 13, the next four on February, 20, and the last episode, which will be a two-hour finale, will be available on Netflix come February 27.
