The word artist has been thrown around in present day so loosely that almost everyone feels free to use the term to identify themselves. Then there comes a time when a real artist gives true meaning to the word. Luke James is that being who exudes the expression from start to finish. After attending his solo headlining show the other night nothing, but respect is shed all over him.
An Evening At Vinyl (Atlanta)
From the moment he stepped onto the stage his confidence was apparent. Recently dropping his highly anticipated self-titled album he brought the tracks to life. All inhibitions we’re placed to the side and freedom took over the crowd. Channeling a young Marvin Gaye he performed “Sexual Healing” that had he crowd loosing their minds. Many artists can rarely sing their own songs live nowadays and here he is belting the legendry Marvin Gaye without a struggle. Vocally the New Orleans native is as transparent as water and smooth as butter.
The performance alone had nothing but James, a microphone, a drummer, and a pianist. It’s crazy how performances have become so saturated with the extra features that we may forget about the talent. Luckily for James all he needs is his velvety vocals to entice any crowd.
Later belting out Sam Smith’s, “Stay With Me” there was absolutely no coming back from all that was Luke James.
As for the opening act George (@TeamTandy) Tandy Jr. he easily won over the crowd without hesitation. First introducing himself and then charming everyone with his humor it gave light to the evening. He swooned the audience in a matter of minutes that set the cameras off quickly.
