Editor. Award Winning Fashion and DIY Influencer. Public Speaker. Creator of the “Sewing, Fashion, and Style” conference. And now, added to the resume, Owner of Sew Sew Def Magazine – Mimi Goodwin (aka Mimi G) is the “Sewing Sensei”.
Mimi G, born in Puerto Rico and headed to Chicago at the tender age of 2, has always been around fashion. At the age of 12 she was inspired by her aunt to sew and the rest is history. Mimi G is a sewing sensation that has wowed many DIY folks, in addition to those that just love fashion.
Mimi G’s obsession with creating has afforded her the opportunity to teach, debut her first ready-to-wear collection in 2010, and has grown her blog from a personal diary to a full-time job. She began blogging in March of 2012 and that first year was when she realized there was enough interest that she could create some sort of side business for herself for extra income. She just simply enjoyed sewing and put her focus towards that.
Mimi G has quickly become an International fashion icon, instructor, role model, and an “in demand” speaker and panel member at blogging conferences across the country. Her DIY projects are the talk of every town, “making sewing sexy,” and generating a fresh new following of fashion savvy readers.
Mimi G Style has specialized in presenting sewing tutorials, patterns and inspiration for years. Her most recent venture is Sew Sew Def Magazine which is a multicultural magazine that caters to both men and women. Each issue of Sew Sew Def will consist of on-trend, modern, and fresh projects along with two digital pdf patterns in each issue. The magazine will be producing fun features from garment construction to in-depth interviews with sew-librities, home décor projects, fun finds, easy projects and step by step instructions.
Mimi G doesn’t “seam” to be stopping anytime soon. Stay connected with her:
