Last year, the fashion industry welcomed newcomer Abdulaye Niang (AB) to the business. AB is a young male model who is creating quite a buzz with his funky street style and his ability to represent brands from high fashion labels to local brands.
Standing at 6’2, AB is of Senegalese descent. However, he’s a true New Yorker hailing from Staten Island. He’s also represented by the NYC-based modeling agency, Red Model Management.
Just this year, AB has walked for Rihanna‘s Fenty x Puma collection, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger during London Fashion Week, and Lanvin during Paris Fashion Week. He has also previously hit the runway for Lous Vuitton, Sies Marjan, Kenneth Ning, OVADIA & SONS, Dim Mak Collection. Not to mention, he’s been featured in publications like Vogue, Women’s Wear Daily, and W Magazine; just to name a few. And has appeared in ad campaigns for Guess, Barneys, and Gucci
When it comes to personal fashion, AB is very creative with his look. He has even found ways to reinvent his clothing. For example, when a pair of sneakers gets old, he’ll simply take out markers and draw on them to change their appearance. Or he’ll take a pair of jeans that’s he’s worn multiple times and tweak them by distressing them or doing something similar to again, change the appearance of the item.
He even likes to take garments from the past and old movies, and incorporate them into his own wardrobe. AB has admitted that the 70s are a very impressionable decade for him. However, one of his staples is a high-top, luxury sneaker; and it has to be leather. He’s also a fur guy, whether full out or just lined in a jacket.
It’s safe to say that there are more great things to come from AB’s career. He’s already traveled the world and worked for the most notable brands in fashion. Maybe next, we’ll see him collaborating and creating a collection of his own since he already displaces an incredibly creative mind.
