Another Whitney Houston documentary may be coming our way! And it’s projected to be better than the last one. Earlier this week the news broke that famous filmmaker, Nick Broomfield, was preparing to direct a Whitney Houston biopic. The movie will focus on the rise and fall of Houston’s life and career. This news received mixed messages from readers and even questioned the songstress’ family thoughts on the project. In a statement issued by Rolling Stone, the Whitney Houston Estate has revealed they had no involvement in the upcoming project and have no desire to do so.
The first rendition of Houston’s story first premiered through Lifetime television in 2015 starring Yaya DeCosta. Houston’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston, had a few words for the latest project. “You should not be surprised that someone decided to do a made-for-TV biopic. And, I might add, without the family’s blessing and despite her mother’s request to not do this movie. It happens every day.”
The release for the project has yet to be determine, but BBC Two gave readers an insight into the premise of the documentary.”This biopic goes in search of the forces that made and then destroyed the singer who has been described as having one of the greatest voices of the last 50 years.” Are you excited for the upcoming documentary?
