We have all said it, “New Year, New Me” when a new year is upon us. But how many of us actually refuse to give up on ourselves in the New Year? Is losing weight on your list of resolutions for 2018?
Let’s list some things that will help to kick-start your “New Year, New Me” lifestyle.
- Have a plan and set a realistic goal
- Eat slow and often
- Eat breakfast every day
- Don’t eat past 7:30 pm
- Eat vegetables every day
- Eat protein at every meal
- Cook at home
- Always read the labels
- Banish foods with high salt content
- Limit sugar and refined starch
- Avoid foods with preservatives and artificial sweeteners
- Stop drinking calories
- Don’t drink sugary, carbonated beverages or alcohol
- Think “Lifestyle” not “Diet”
- Make the right food choices at least 90% of the time
- Find healthy substitutions for unhealthy favorite foods
- Do not give up on your healthy lifestyle or give in to a binge after a minor slip up
- Burn more calories than you eat
- Make something you enjoy exercise (biking, hiking, roller skating, hula-hooping, etc)
- Exercise at least 3 times per week
- Build muscle
- Get enough sleep
- Reduce stress
- Do not get discouraged, weight loss takes time and quick fixes don’t last
- Develop healthy routines and make them your lifestyle
- Never lose sight of your goals
- Stay positive and LOVE YOURSELF
