Nick Cannon is flexing his director and producer muscles in a new film venture. This time Mariah’s hubby is beyond funny, beyond hilarious, and downright ratchet! “School Dance” is coming to a theater near you and it is HILARIOUS! The film is a comedic coming of age story about Jason (Bobb’e Johnson) a lame high schooler desperate to join his cousin, Day-Day’s (Dashawn Blanks) rap/dance group known as “The Rangers.” There’s just one problem–to do so he has to get the panties of his dream girl, Anastacia. Nonstop hijinks and shenanigans lead him on a journey to fulfill all his high school dreams of popularity and love at the school’s lock-in/dance.

Now, this movie is definitely for the younger crowd. Anyone from the ages of sixteen to twenty-two will completely relate to all its crude humor, wild music, and pure “ratchetness!” Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the film are its famous comedic cast. Mike Epps, Kevin Hart, Lunell, George Lopez, Wilmer Valderama, and Nick Cannon himself all appeared as various characters. Each of them were a spoof of classic hood characters. The real star of the film, however is Bobb’e. He has proven to be quite the little actor over the years. Even though he is still little, his acting chops are full grown. I am actually looking forward to seeing him in more films. His posse, however, are reminiscent of Atlanta neighborhood boys–skinny and monotone!
Honestly, it really is a funny movie. Besides making you laugh this movie will shock you into a heart attack. If you thought The Wayans Brothers spoof movies were funny then wait til you see this. The film has some “Glee” elements. Instead of breaking into songs, however, there are impromptu rap battles and a ratchet dance contest to knock your socks off! Catch Nick Cannon’s “School Dance” in theaters everywhere July 2nd!
