Now Playing: “Automatic” by Claudette Ortiz

By: Sebastien “@TheGayBestie” Gaudin

Claudette Ortiz has officially released a mainstream hit in over a decade! The singer’s newest single titled, “Automatic” proves that the R&B songstress hasn’t lost or missed a beat. The groovy track gives any listener the feel of a woman who has had enough in relationship that’s run its course.

Boldly singing her disgust for a particular man Ortiz repeats, “I don’t like it, I don’t like it” continuously through a fair share of the song. It almost sounds as a therapeutic process in self-discovery.

I don’t like it, I don’t I don’t like it
I should be with someone who could treat me right
I try to fight it, damn, I try to fight it
It’s gettin’ the best of me and I don’t like it

After her first season of R&B Divas L.A. its apparent that Ortiz has used this track to lay her battles to rest. Vocally her growth is apparent with a style of a grown and seasoned woman in the industry.

Finally showing her chops as a solo artist it’s exciting to see where Ortiz is heading this time around. Although, the music industry has drastically changed from her time with City High it looks as though there is an audience hungry to hear the voice of Ms. Ortiz.

This taste of a new single offers a sound that’s been missing from R&B for quite sometime. While embodying a confident woman on, “Automatic” we can only hope that Ortiz gives the same light on the approaching season of R&B Divas L.A.
