This year at fashion designers from Indonesia displayed gorgeous ready to wear ensembles and accessories. Don’t be fooled, these designs weren’t anything less than high-end. From beautifully handcrafted fabrics to the beautifully embroidered details the designers served up a big dose of Indonesian culture.

So far from home, but yet these designers brought Indonesia to New York. If you are wondering what inspired these designers to create such awe-inspiring designs well it was everything from the culture to the architecture and even Legong dance.
Indonesia takes over the Runway
Designers like Dian Pelangi’s used geometric prints and bold colors to exemplify New York City Life. The designer also used embellishments around the waistline and shoulders to add a bit of flare.

One thing we did love seeing on the runway was the jaw-dropping headpieces. Designers like Melia Wijaya and Catherine Njoo’s used larger than life headpieces that were adorned in gold and with feathers.

Indonesian fashion can be sumed up in three simple words: it’s bold, detail oriented and traditional. With a country so rich in culture what isn’t there to love about all Indonesia.
This show definitely showed that no matter who we are or where we are in the world there is one thing that we all share in common and that’s fashion. It definitley makes the world go round.
