The death of the Michael Jackson shocked everyone around the world and sparked an emotional reaction from lovers of his music. People took to the streets dancing and singing in read leather jackets and sparkling gloves. Many shed tears outside the hospital and left tokens of remembrance outside the King of Pop’s home. While we were all touched by the sudden death of a man that shared his gift of dance and song with us since the age of 5 – his family, specifically, his children are still suffering the loss of their son, brother and father. Paris, Jackson’s surviving daughter was rushed to a California hospital yesterday after attempting suicide with a kitchen knife and pills.
The 15-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital via ambulance at approximately 2 a.m., the website reports, after police received a 911 call at 1:27 a.m.
Paris was reportedly carried out of her family home in Calabasas, Los Angeles home, which she shares with grandmother Katherine Jackson and brothers Prince and Blanket.
TMZ was first to report that Paris’ hospitalization was due to a possible suicide attempt. Paris’ biological mother, Debbie Rowe, confirmed to ET that Paris had “a lot going on [lately]” and was hospitalized.
The shocking news come just hours after Paris posted a series of messages on her Twitter page. A condensed version of her tweets from Tuesday evening, in which Paris writes about crying before quoting lyrics from the Beatles’ song, “Yesterday,” is presented below.
“Omg. That conversation escalated quickly. I wonder why tears are salty? Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away. Now it looks as though they’re here today.”
A lawyer for Paris’ grandmother Katherine also confirmed the news, telling the New York Daily News: “She’s suffered with the loss of her father. But we don’t know what she was exposed to that precipitated this.”
And Perry Sanders Jr., a lawyer for Rowe, released a statement to multiple publications, saying the family was asking for privacy. “Being a sensitive 15-year-old is difficult no matter who you are,” he said. “It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family’s privacy.”
TMZ reports that the teen took “a large number of Motrin pills” and cut herself with a “meat cleaver.” The site says Michael Jackson’s daughter called a “suicide hotline” and left a “suicide note.”
People.com offers a slightly less dramatic picture of the scene, but confirms that Jackson, 15, “cut her wrists with a kitchen knife and took as many as 20 ibuprofen tablets.”
