PowerHouse, Businesswoman, Entrepreneur, History Maker, Humble, and Down-to-Earth are all words I can use to describe Dr. Tiana Von Johnson. With many projects under her belt and plenty more to come, Dr. Von Johnson is the ultimate hustler and a standard on how the African-American female should dominate in every lane.
The Bronx native, who grew up in a traditional household and had a traditional path of life, attended Metropolitan College of New York where she received her Bachelors in Business Administration and Masters in Business Administration. Afterwards she received her Doctor of Business Administration at the University of Phoenix at the age 27 and in 2013 received an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy.
Continuing to thrive in her career, she took a risk by leaving her job where she made 6-figures to try her hand at becoming a real estate investing strategist. In her first year of real estate she borrowed $350 and generated $1.3 million at only 28 years old.
“I had no desire in real estate, no background either”, said Dr. Von Johnson. With that being said it is amazing and inspiring that she become the ONLY African American woman real estate broker on Wall Street for the last 5 years!
In addition to being a real estate strategist, she is also CEO/President of two brokerage firms in Midtown Manhattan: The GoldStar Group and Madison Layne Real Estate, CEO/President of Greenlightgroup Ventures Worldwide, Founder of the Minority Investors Alliance (MIA), National Expansion Strategist for Strongbrook Real Estate Investment Company, and author of the best selling book: The Mindset Makeover: How to Enhance Your Self-Worth to Increase Your Net-Worth, available at Amazon.com. The book touches on the Ten Laws of Mindset Mastering and how to find your core passion.
The POWERHOUSE, as dubs herself (and a quite accurate description I might add), looked at life as two different paths: the traditional path, which allows for you to get a job and just work, and the dark path, which means you follow your dreams and see what everyone wants to see but doesn’t. “To be an entrepreneur you have to have what Diddy has, that burning desire to do it by any means necessary.”
Although Dr. Von Johnson has her hands in many pots, her first love has always been in production and event planning. She hosts conferences, national campaigns with celebrities, and most recently her seminar Master Class, which gives people the opportunity to learn how to be wealthy, who to study and learn from, business, real estate, and personal development topics. She has been featured in Black Enterprise, CNN, News 12, and Crains New York Business just to name a few; and owns Von’s World Entertainment, which produces television and event projects including the Power House Conference & Women Doing It Big, a national empowerment conference designed to motivate, educate, and empower men and women across the world. She says that the hardest thing about being a businesswoman is separating her emotions from taking things personally. “When people don’t see my vision it’s hard. It’s my baby and so you want people to get it but once you go through hundreds of no’s and rejection you’ll build yourself up.”
I asked Dr. Von Johnson what advice would she give on becoming a powerhouse, she states: “First off READ THE BOOK! Next, it is important to be sure that life doesn’t suck you in, follow your passion, live life on your terms but go hard, and attack dreams like it’s the air you breathe.”
This woman provides so many platforms for African-American women to succeed and dominate in whatever arenas they want. She is the epitome of inspiration and admiration.
