Prada advocates the ‘Romphim’

For her spring 2018 mens show, Muiccia Prada decided to take her guests on a journey through a comic book.

The Prada aesthetic has always maintained a level of athleisure with every collection. Many of the looks incorporated nylon, which is a signature fabric, and were paired with sneakers reminiscent of the classic Prada trainers.  The clothes were styled to perfection with most of the looks including shirt sleeves pushed to the bicep and secured with a velcro tab, popped collars, and high waist pants that were either nylon or wool. Other looks featured printed socks pulled high and worn under short shorts. Accessories played an important role giving in to the fanny pack trend by having most exits featuring fanny packs worn on the small of the back.

Though, Miuccia Prada claims to never have actually read comic books, the comic motif was used heavily, having grace everything from top coats, polo shirts, and jumpsuits. Speaking of jumpsuits, there were many in the collection. Most were styled with belts or fanny packs and done in an array of solid colors, prints and some featuring a stripe on one side. “They are my last obsession,” she said to vogue.com about her jumpsuits. With all of the media surrounding the ‘Romphim‘ this summer, it’s a possibility that these will be a big hit.

The Prada man is a guy that is confident. Not just in his masculinity but with his body. Slim sillhouettes and thigh baring shorts, however controversial, are seemingly becoming the norm for every man. With fashion stars like A$AP Rocky and Travis Scott daring to wear short shorts and ‘murses’, the high fashion style is starting to cross genres. As this collection has shown, Prada has set out to change the perspective for mens dressing. Possibly making the ‘romphim’ the new male uniform.
