The Race is on…Countdown to Scandal

I saw this picture weeks ago on Facebook and I immediately saved it to my phone, because I knew I had to discuss it. Although Scandal is one of the most phenomenal shows we have ever seen on television, there are people who say they don’t like the show and that always amuse me. Have you watched it or is it just going over your head? The most disturbing answer that I’ve received (from Black men, might I add) is that they dislike the fact that Olivia Pope seems to only date White men. Ridiculous, I know?

First let’s discuss the picture. I starred at this picture for about 20 minutes; waiting to be enraged, when is actuality, I felt nothing! And I felt nothing because seeing a Black man cheat on his Black wife with a white isn’t exactly new territory. Hello!!! We see this every day and furthermore if the writing was the same and the connection and intensity of the actors was the same, who would care? The only thing that may change is that Mellie would be the star of the show, because Kerry Washington is phenomenal and it has little to do with the color of her skin.
