Racist Much? Amber Rose dishes on her own Family Drama!

Racism is real for everyone. If you think you are immune to its affects then chances are you are probably one of the racists you see in old Civil Rights footage from the sixties! No matter how high class, wealthy, or famous you are racism pervades every inch of our society. Still, it is surprising former video vixen, Amber Rose has come forward with some nasty details surrounding her own family–and no we are not talking about her soon to be ex-hubby, Wiz Khalifa! In an interview with the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), she revealed she believes some members of her family did not attend her wedding because Wiz is African-American!

Amber’s family is of Creole descent and it seems they have some rather disparaging thoughts when it comes to African-Americans. “With my family, they feel like they’re more superior or better than an African American because we’re Creole and we have culture and that’s something I battle with most of my life. It’s more of the older people in my family.” The interview is apart of Light Girls, a documentary and sequel to Dark Girls, detailing the effects of colorism on lighter skinned African-American women. Sad, right? Even more sad is these people have not researched their own history and ethnicity to realize they are descended from a mixture of European, Native American, and African people! Unless we all have been taught wrong this makes them part Black. You can see more of Amber Rose and this riveting documentary tonight on OWN. Check your local listings for showtimes.

Hey Mikey!

WHO AM I? That’s probably what you’re thinking? It’s simple I’m this generation’s “Dear Abby!” I was raised in the Fourth Ward of Atlanta, educated in the School of Hard Knocks, and rescued by the concrete and steel of New York City. Life at best will always be bittersweet. The sooner you accept that, the better off you’ll be. I’d prefer to be on your sweeter side. Everyone needs a listening ear, extra shoulder, and open arms when life gets rough. I’m your new best friend, where it all goes south remember I’m a mouse click or tweet away. Hang in there kids, you’re gonna love kickin’ it with me!!! -Michael Jonvier
