Rapper Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Hayes, was arrested on felony drug charges when his tour bus was pulled over in Tennessee Saturday morning. The 40 year old Saint Louis native and another man identified as Brian Jones also from Saint Louis, were arrested after a Tennessee state trooper pulled over the tour bus in Putnam County around 9:20 am that morning. Nelly is infamous for delivering great music and oozing sex appeal all the way down to his toes.
According to authorities, the tour bus was pulled over for failure to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker on the vehicle. This sticker is imperative when an artist is traveling on tour via bus because each state in our country has specific laws that govern their state taxes. Authorities say that during an inspection of the vehicle, the trooper noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the bus. Inside, troopers found methamphetemine as well as a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. That is not a good look for Nelly at all.
Troopers also found 100 small Ziploc baggies, which they say are often associated with the sale of narcotics, as well as several handguns including a gold-plated 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a 45-caliber Tarus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson.
Nevertheless, Nelly was charged with felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones, who is a convicted felon, was charged for being in possession of a firearm. Four other people on the bus were not charged. Hopefully Nelly will beat this case in the end!
