R&B Group Day26 is Back in Business

R&B Group Day26 is Back in Business

Day28

Former Bad Boy Records male R&B group, Day26, has reunited for its 10 year anniversary. The reunion took the form of a sold out, 10 Year Anniversary Concert in New York City, back in August. However, the group has decided to push forward with a headlining tour and an EP.

Ten years ago, Willie Taylor, Brian Angel, Qwanell “Que” Mosley, Robert Curry, and Michael “Big Mike” McCluney were chosen by Sean “Diddy” Combs on MTV’s Making the Band 4 to form Day26. They were brought together to become the next chart-topping male R&B group. During their time together they created hit singles like “Got Me Going” and “Imma Put It on Her.” Before disbanding, they released two studio albums that hit #1 on the Billboard R&B Charts.

Not too far after the disassembling of their sister group Danity Kane, Day26 started to have problems of their own. Tensions started to rise between group members over management and the music business in general. Eventually, members started to leave due to dissatisfaction and everything fell apart.

Many fans might be wondering what the guys were doing during their hiatus. It’s no secret that Willie was living his life on the hit VH1 reality television show Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, along with his wife Lashanda and their two kids. He also took a liking to acting and appeared in Chocolate City 2: Vegas Strip. Not to mention, he’s confirmed to appear in the third installment of the franchise, Chocolate City 3: Live Tour, which is set to come out in 2018. He’s also apart of another film titled Kinky, which involves cast and crew members from Chocolate City.

Members Brian, Robert, and Big Mike have also caught the acting. Brian is currently working on a television project and a film project as well. Robert appears in popular stage plays I Cheated So What! and Let It Burn. Big Mike is set to star in thriller film, Conundrum: Secret Among Friends, which is set to hit theaters in November 2018.

Musically, all of the members of Day26 have been working on their own music and producing with other artists. However, Brian is preparing for the release of his solo project. While Big Mike has created an entire dance company.

Today, all five members have reconciled and agree to move forward with their career as a group. Though they all live separate lives in different cities, they are still determined to continue as a group while still pursuing their own career goals. Day26 is now an independent R&B group planning their 10 Year Anniversary Tour which will feature Donnie Klang and LaShanda Taylor. They are also currently creating music for their upcoming EP.

Their plan is to do the reunion tour, record the album, and then go back on the road for another tour that will feature the new music. As of now, they are entertaining thoughts of joining two separate tours with other artists. One will be with Miami Hip-Hop group Pretty Ricky and the other will showcase male R&B groups like 112 and Jagged Edge. However, nothing has been decided yet.

It’s obvious, that the Day26 has no plans on slowing down now that they are back together. They’ve managed to put their old problems behind them and are now able to see the full potential of what they can become. Also, the fans that supported them, in the beginning, have not lost faith in the group. The only thing left for the group to do is to give the fans what they want. It’s time for Day26 to get back to business.
