The Washington Redskins fans are seething and frustrated heading toward another losing season but they can take solace in handing the gift of revenge to their hated rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, courtesy of wide receiver Desean Jackson. A former Philadelphia Eagle, Desean Jackson scorched the defense with 4 catches for 126 yards in Washington’s 27-24 victory. Washington’s win over their divisional foe not only avenges an earlier lose this season but kicks the floundering Eagles out of the playoff picture. Coming off career highs of 82 catches for 1,332 yards with Philadelphia last season, the Eagles abruptly jettisoned their best player without warning during the offseason. With his character shredded and career tattered, the Washington Redskins were all too happy to grab this recycled present. Washington’s season has not gone as anyone planned, with Robert Griffin III injuries and inconsistencies, Washington is mired in a 4-11 season. Desean more than carried his end of the bargain, garnering his second straight 1,000 yard season and fourth overall. Jackson proved to be a rare Washington free agent that has worked out. The Eagles, however, were never able to replace Desean’s explosive playmaking ability. Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly didn’t go so far as to admit cutting Desean was a mistake but he also neglected to make any adjustments in defending him, which is indefensible. The Eagles will limp into the off-season knowing it is their own fault. They are responsible for the fiery vengeance Desean raged with against them. Maybe next Christmas, the Eagles will play nice and give Desean Jackson a I’m Really, Really Sorry Hallmark Card.
