There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that TV One definitely has a hit on its hands with Born Again Virgin (BAV)! The show has easily become one of cable television’s most talked about shows and is now a critically acclaimed series. The dramedy (drama + comedy) hilariously and touchingly details the life of Jenna (Danielle Nicolet) a thirty-four year old blogger on the outs with love and relationships. She makes the surprising decision to become celibate when she realizes her number of past sex partners is about to surpass her age. Her decision is met with surprise, awe, and eventually support from her roommates, but all that comes into question when she meets Donovan, a breathtakingly handsome lawyer who also happens to be her neighbor.
Kontrol Magazine had no choice but to get in on this hot show and managed to snatch up Danielle and Tank for a smoking hot shoot and smoldering interview. The two stars discussed their characters and delved into their own takes on love and relationships. Catch a snippet of what they said below:
Who is Jenna/Donovan? Tank dives right in. “My character Donovan- what’s good about Donovan is- he’s not trying to pressure her into sex and I’m not the guy who doesn’t like her anymore because she’s not giving him any either. I’m proud to say I get to be the guy that says ‘hey this is a great decision. I like you. Sometimes it may get hard [no pun intended] but let’s build a friendship, let’s build a connection, and let’s see where we go from here.” Danielle nods in approval and begins, “Jenna is a well-intended dork. She always means well and she has the tendency to screw things up, but she always has the best of intentions.” She pauses to give herself another rejuvenating gulp of Starbucks’ famous roast, “She’s just trying to find her way in a world and be happy and find love and balance between being ambitious and successful, and having a relationship.” Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen plays softly and I use the tune as an excuse to allow us a second of Tank’s better vocalic rendition of the chorus while I fumble to find my place on my question pad.
You guys have never worked together before or met prior, but your chemistry is flawless, how did that happen? “It’s just awful; it’s awful I say,” Danielle continues to jeer her costar, who seems to be use to their playful banter, who only smiles his amazing half smile and continues to wardrobe, “number one: he’s not easy on the eyes. Two: he’s no fun to be around….and of course you know I’m joking. He’s awesome and we have a really great time together.” A boisterous “Uh huh” lets us know Tank approves of her answer and she goes, “And you better say the same thing about me when he ask you or else!” These two are classic!
