Former James Bond star, Roger Moore, is apparently taking shots at actor Idris Elba and rumors about him being the next James Bond, saying that Elba isn’t “English-English” enough for the role, according to Love B. Scott.
Moore, who is now 87-years-old, made the remarks during an interview with Paris Match Magazine.
“A few years ago, I said that Cuba Gooding Jr. would make an excellent Bond, but it was a joke! Although James may have been played by a Scot, a Welshman and an Irishman, I think he should be ‘English-English.’ Nevertheless, it’s an interesting idea, but unrealistic.”
Ouch!
Of course after Moore’s comments went viral social media had a field day accusing the actor of being racist. As soon as social media calmed down, Moore took to Twitter to clean up his comments and to state that his words had been “lost in translation.”
Idris has been pinned as the best choice to play the next James Bond since last December when his name was mentioned in leaked Sony e-mails and I actually think Idris would make a GREAT James Bond!
