If you aren’t familiar with Michelle MacLaren by now, you will be. Michelle has directed Game Of Thrones, The Walking Dead and most notoriously, Breaking Bad. Yes, a woman gave us Heisenberg and won an Emmy award for it.
The most famous female superhero in the world is getting a female director. Michelle just signed on to direct the upcoming Wonder Woman.
This will be the first feature film for MacLaren, but it’s becoming quite common for TV directors to make the jump into big-budget superhero movies. Michelle will also be the first female director to take on a superhero franchise since Lexi Alexander made Punisher: War Zone.
Wonder Woman is a female superhero comic that has stood the test of time in a world populated largely by men. And if patrolling the streets of Metropolis is a majority male profession, directing in Hollywood is absolutely dominated by men! Michelle knows what it’s like to be a woman in a man’s world.
The outlet reports that MacLaren wasn’t the only female filmmaker the studio considered for Wonder Woman, with The Babadook director Jennifer Kent and Homeland director Lesli Linka Glatter also on the list.
Fast & Furious 6 actress Gal Gadot is expected to make her debut as Wonder Woman in 2016’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, a full year ahead of her solo adventure; which is scheduled to hit theaters the summer of 2017. Will you be going to watch it?
