It suddenly went from feeling like an interview to chatting with a long-time friend. Fans know her as Lilly from Astrid and Lilly Save the World. Singer, songwriter and actress Samantha Aucoin joined with Kontrol recently to discuss her love of music and her new breakout role on the Syfy network’s hit series Astrid and Lilly Save the World.
Astrid and Lilly Save the World is the Syfy network series centered on two high school outcasts Lilly (Samantha Aucoin) and Jana Morrison (Astrid), that open a portal to another world and must defeat the monster’s they’ve released.
“I got my love of music from my dad,” she said. It prompted me to ask about her musical inspirations, to which Samantha responded by singing a line from “How Will I Know” by Whitney Houston. A singer we both love.
The show Astrid and Lilly Save the World. definitely has its share of scenes that will trigger you. I mentioned this in reference to a rather tough scene where Lilly (Samantha Aucoin) and Jana Morrison (Astrid) are body shamed at a house party.
“Lilly and Astrid dance to the beat of their own drum. They’re really in their own world and they weather a lot together. I’ve experienced body shaming before and dealing with that isn’t easy. The actor that played him is Kolton Stewart and he’s really an extremely sweet guy.”
Loving yourself is a big part of happiness and having a stronger sense self-confidence. Nothing says confidence like having great style. Having dealt with issues like being bullied and body shamed, Samantha’s advice for readers was simple, but well stated. “Body positivity is about loving yourself, so don’t be afraid to stand up for you,” Samantha said.
