The number one reason people do not involve themselves in physical activity to better their health. Is there enough of it? Maybe the better question is; if one doesn’t become physically active, how much time do you have left? Let’s lengthen the days of our lives, improve the feeling we have throughout the days, and even save money by reducing the number of doctor visits or medicine aisle trips we have yearly.
Let’s focus on women because Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) affects females more than males. According to the American Heart Association, in 2012 each year about 55,000 more women than men have strokes. Also, more than one in three female adults have some sort of CVD. There are a few reasons for these numbers, but one is that women are less active than men.
Lives are busy, minds are all over the place, and responsibilities are never ending. However, below is a small 6 minute regimen. Six minutes of your day can possibly change your health or at least jumpstart you to begin to become active. It’s time to have better.
6 MINUTE CARDIO If time and energy permits, repeat this as many times as possible
• Jump rope – 90 seconds • If you don’t own a jump rope simply perform the motions.
• Cross body crunch – 60 seconds each side
• Split Jacks – 90 seconds • A split jack is simply jumping jack motions with your arms and your legs splits forward and backwards instead of sideways.
• Bicycle – 60 seconds
