It’s got to be an accurate assumption that movies buffs are super excited about the remake of the classic film and best-seller, “The Great Gatsby.” And with every movie there is, of course, a soundtrack! Upon said soundtrack is Beyonce, of course, right? Not only is she on the soundtrack, she covered an Amy Winehouse original ‘Back to Black’ featuring Andre 3000 and Daddy Winehouse is far from impressed!
After listening to the track, the late singer’s father told the Daily Mail “I wasn’t asked for my permission if they could record it” from anyone on the “Gatsby” crew. He went on to say Beyonce’s rendition of the tune “doesn’t bring anything” to his daughter’s original.
Daddy Winehouse took to Twitter shortly after discovering the song had been recorded and alluded to a proposition for the oversight. “I don’t know this but what if Beyonce gave £100,000 to foundation. Do you know how many kids that would help? Just putting it out there.”
The track has now been approved by the Winehouse’s but it didn’t come without a steep price! “They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can’t tell you how much it is but it’s a lot of money.”
What do you think about this sort of chopped and screwed version of Lady Winehouse’s “Black to Black?” Did Bey do it any justice? Check out the snippet below and leave your thoughts!
