Taoray Wang Brings Collection To A Global Audience
TAORAY WANG’s CEO and founder Wang Tao, has grown from an aspiring designer to one of Asia’s most successful female entrepreneurs.
In addition, TAORAY WANG creates clothing for women who appreciate refined tailoring, sophisticated silhouettes, and luxurious fabrics. Because of its diverse background of rich and global heritage. Wang is a melting pot of contrasts into harmony. As a result, the brand is a collection that independent, international women will be drawn to.
Taoray Wang Brings Baroque Back To Life
TAORAY WANG looked to Baroque musicians Henry Purcell and George Frideric Handel for inspiration for the Spring/Summer ’18 collection. After watching the music performed at the Shanghai Symphony Hall, Wang wanted to design a collection emulating the Baroque period. The collection exuded sophistication and modernism. An array of blues, blacks, whites, grays and the occasional pop of blush, achieved a look of uniformity and professionalism. It’s no surprise, Wang dubbed the “Queen of the suit”. Utilized simple silhouettes, such as collared shirts, structured shift dresses and suits throughout the collection.
Flute sleeves also dominated the runway creating a modern adaptation of the Baroque costume. Tassels and fringe were incorporated on different looks creating a dramatic effect. Additionally, Wang accessorized many of her designs with elegantly crafted waist belts adding new meaning to “snatched”.
Taoray Wang Blurs Color Lines
Wang believes “People are not defined by race or nationality. Customers have an international background, they embrace diversity and are open-minded. They are well-educated and well-traveled. They are multi-cultural”. It’s clear that wang is proud of her heritage. Traces of Orientalism are present throughout the line, but not in the form of stereotype icons. Rather, they are kept within the design, cut and lining. TAORAY WANG fuses East and West effortlessly. Dispelling the myth of Chinese brands being unable to create modern western designs that are capable of setting trends.
Even celebrities, like Tiffany Trump (a long supporter of the brand). Gave several nods of approval, as the collection came down the runway. Included in the sea of celebrities were Peter Brandt, designer Andrew Warren, and Jeannie Mai. No matter what side of the design aesthetic fence you sit on. There’s no denying the impeccable tailoring and craftsmanship TAORAY WANG offers. This collection is the epitome of girl power!
