Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) was a major box office hit in 2014. In fact the the film was so successful a sequel was announced in just a few weeks after its premiere. Many attribute the franchise’s new success to stellar marketing, a more realistic portrayal of The Turtles, and the overall reigning popularity of superhero films. Casey Jones, as you already know is a supporting character of TMNT, appearing in virtually every interpretation of the franchise. The character is an ordinary citizen who became a vigilante after rising crime in the city begin to threaten the safety of his neighborhood. He has been a staunch ally of The Turtles, particularly Raphael, due to their similar temperaments; as well April O’Neal’s love interest.
Casting for Casey had to be someone gritty, dangerous, and believable–someone already seasoned to the superhero/vigilante life. So who better than Arrow’s Stephen Amell to bring the hurt and pain to Shredder and The Foot Clan! Stephen took to Twitter yesterday tweeting, “Somebody find me a hockey mask!!! #TMNT2” along wit the following picture:
