Any time you are blessed to make a revolution around the sun is a momentous occasion. Sure, that’s the fancy way of saying “Happy Birthday,” but when it is your fiftieth one that is even more special. Thankfully actress, Teri J. Vaughn, is the latest addition to fifties; and she is beautiful, ageless, and in love! They say “Black don’t crack,” but neither does Black Love, especially when you are with the right partner. For Teri it is the love she has with her husband and hunky actor, Karon Joseph Riley. In celebration of her milestone birthday Kontrol grabbed an exclusive shoot and a few words of love, wisdom, and light from this celebrity couple.
For Teri turning fifty leads to a number of questions. After all half a century of life experience is indeed a treasure trove of life experience and wisdom. She states the biggest lesson she has learned over the years is to “trust your [her] gut.” This is definitely a statement to live by, it does not feel right, do not do it and if your gut is assured, then go for it! The next fifty years of her life will be even better than her last fifty as she sees her dreams will overflow beyond her wildest dreams; and being that she is a bigger dreamer nowadays we can only imagine what the future holds. Teri has done a number of shoots with Kontrol, but this one is particularly special to her because she wants to combat ageism. “…to kill the stigma of what many of us think is 50. I’m still funny, silly, spontaneous, and sexy! I challenged myself to step up out of my comfort zone…to remind all women that there’s beauty and power in taking care of yourselves, mentally, spiritually, and physically, no matter what age.”
Teri’s birthday shoot marks Karon’s first shoot with her for Kontrol Magazine. We have known him for some time now and he is always friendly and a very supportive partner and husband to his wife. In fact, he often calls her his best friend in casual conversations or interviews. When asked what his wife means to him he responds beautifully, “What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul? Well I couldn’t tell you because that is what Teri means to me.” Karon is nine years younger than Teri and goes on to discuss what means having an older wife, “…I got the world and her being older just actually enhances my soul because I get to lead and follow, which makes for a well balanced energy. So she makes like the luckiest man on the planet.”
We love Teri and are so glad to celebrate her birthday with her. She and Karon are amazing actors, people, and are definitely “#relationshipgoals!” Happy Birthday Teri, we are wishing you more joy, more love, and the world!
