The world may have stopped for a moment last Saturday after Stephen G. Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials for BET shared the communication via Twitter he and Andre 3000 shared in regards to him dropping his solo album at the top of 2014. One thing is for sure, Hip-Hop heads went crazy as the news spread like wildfire.
While it is certain that Andre 3000 is the pulse of not just Hip-Hop in the South, but Hip-Hop period, we may have to wait just a little while longer. His moves are well thought out and purposeful. It has been reported that talk of this album that fans have been waiting on since OutKast gave us a taste of what a solo album would be like with The Love Below in 2003, may just be innuendo.
Never fret, earthlings. Perfection takes time. Whenever 3 Stacks decides to come out and bless us again lyrically-it will be well worth the wait. Until then, he has his focus on the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is by My Side, which premieres next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
During his beloved mother’s homegoing celebration in June, Andre wore pink ditching the traditional suit and tie. Andre wouldn’t be himself if he didn’t color outside of the lines. He plays by his own rules and is a trendsetter, not a follower. We love that about him.
He may arguably be the best lyricist in the universe; however he has bigger projects in the works. In an interview he did with GQ magazine in 2012, when asked about if he would be resurrecting his Benjamin Bixby clothing line he responded:
“Yes! But it will be just named Bixby this time. It’s going to be real exciting. I can’t say too much about it, but I can say this year and next year there’s going to be a lot of cool things coming from me in fashion-wise. Bixby is one of them.”
