Just a few minutes ago rapper/business owner Jay-Z threw a re-launch party for his new venture in music streaming technology, Tidal, in New York City. Tidal is an artist-owned company that gives fans authentic and exclusive music, video, and editorials straight from their favorite artist in efforts to steer them clear into their own lane away from fellow competitors Spotify and Beats Music.
Tidal team member Vania Schlogel say that Tidal is “the future of music”. Schlogel opened the presentation by introducing us to the rebirth of the music streaming outlet. “We’re here to launch a platform owned by artist that will continue to evolve overtime. A platform as dynamic as the artist behind it,” Schlogel said. She continued by bringing out the artist and owners behind the growing music streaming company to the stage: Arcade Fire, Kanye, Beyoncé, Daft Punk, Jack White, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Rihanna, Usher, Alicia Keys, J. Cole, and many more artists.
Alicia Keys represented the star-studded group by giving a speech about the excitement of the new venture and how it will effect music in a positive way. Alicia stated:
“We come together before you on this day, March 30th 2015, with one voice in unity. In the hopes that today will be another one of those moments in time; a moment that will forever change the course of music history. For today we announce the launch of Tidal, the first ever artist-owned, global music and entertainment platform. Our goal is simple: we want to create a better service and better experience for fans and artist.”
Alicia capped off her speech by signing a declaration as her fellow c0-owners followed one-by-one to sign after. You can see the full conference and grab more information at the Tidal website and you can check out a special promo starring the artist behind the movement below.
