The 2022 Tony awards took place this past Sunday, closing another year in the award show’s rich history. I’m happy to say that there were more hits than misses at the Tony Awards red-carpet. I’d be amiss not to mention Jennifer Hudson’s historic Tony win. Jennifer was among Sunday’s winners, having won a Tony award for co-producing the production A Strange Loop. This Tony win makes J-Hud one of the few entertainers to achieve an Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and Tony award win.
The 2022 Tony Awards show attendees came through with some noteworthy fashions for the red-carpet.
Jessica Chastain, Uzo Aduba, Andrew Garfield, Vanessa Hudgens, Sarah Paulson and Ruth Negga were some the best-dressed at this year’s Tony Awards. Vanessa Hudgens wore Elsa Schiaparelli couture with gold Saturn earrings. A brief side-note, the Schiaparelli fashion house is one of my favorites and has produced some of this year’s most notable red-carpet looks. Doja Cat and Beyoncé are only a few of the celebrities to be seen in Schiaparelli. Uzo Aduba wore an immaculate custom gold gown by designer Cong Tri. Gold is definitely her color.
Red-carpet favorite, Billie Porter through me off somewhat with his red-carpet look. I’ve always viewed his willingness to take fashion-risks as a very good thing. However, the silver suit and bun he wore to the 2022 Tony Awards was underwhelming. Cynthia Erivo is another red-carpet A-lister. I didn’t take an issue with what she wore, I just don’t think it was worthy of the Tony Awards red-carpet.
