Whether you know of Frodo or Bilbo Baggins, by now the world at large is familiar with the small folk coined by J.R.R. Tolkien as “hobbits!” At long last the final film in the franchise of The Hobbit movies, “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies,” is coming to theaters just in time for Christmas. As you recall in the last film, Bilbo Baggins was unwittingly enlisted as a “burglar” to help a team of dwarves steal The Arkenstone from the fearsome dragon, Smaug. They are narrowly successful, but end up enraging and releasing the dragon on Middle-Earth at large. Smaug is determined to take revenge on the people of Lake-town for helping the dwarves, while Bilbo looks on horrified.
Let’s just take a moment to appreciate the graphics of this film! Amazing does not describe how awesome the world of Middle-Earth looks. Everthing from the characters to the landscape in general is going to make this movie and experience instead of just another magic wielding, Sci-Fi film. Based on the trailer, we can definitely tell Bilbo is in over his head. Smaug is running rampant and torching Lake-town and the various races and kingdoms of Middle-Earth seem to be at odds with one another. This is epic as we are witnessing a type of World War in the magical realm. Besides the familiar faces and action packed scenes, we finally are reunited with a few faces from “The Lord of The Rings” movies, Legolas and Arwen! Hopefully the film will answer a few questions like how will Bilbo be of any real help this time around, will his ring play a role in the film, and how will all of this lead us into the Middle-Earth we know with Frodo Baggins and The Fellowship of The Ring? This has got to be pulled off smoothly or the studios will have to deal with a massive backlash from magic loving fanboys and girls everywhere! Just be sure you bring your own brand of magic when you catch “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies” in 3-D and IMAX, and theaters everywhere December 17th!
