The Urban League of Greater Atlanta Young Professionals (ULGA-YP) announces its fifth annual Dream Catchers Awards reception will be held October 10 from 7-11pm. This year, honorees will be recognized in the following categories: Dream Catcher: Eygpt Sherrod (radio & tv personality), community advocate: Black Girls Run, political advocate: Michael Sterling (senior advisor to Mayor Kasim Reed) and corporate advocate: Southern Company. Five scholarship recipient(s) will receive up to $1,000 each top apply to their first year college experience.
“The Urban League of Greater Atlanta- Young Professionals values education empowerment and has to date distributed $12,000 in scholarships to first year college students,” says President Ciji Tatum. “To recognize our partners in service who selflessly give back to the committee is a necessity and a honor. The Urban League of Greater Atlanta-Young Professionals are happy to be able to award deserving community, corporate and political thought leaders,” she adds. Over the past four years, the Dream Catchers Awards reception has been held to recognize some of the most active and contributing members or businesses in the Greater Atlanta community. Notable past honorees have been Georgia State Representative Yasmin Neal, The Ron Clark Academy, Miller Coors and Bert’s Big Adventure. During the Dream Catchers Awards reception, several lucky recent high school graduates have received up to $5,000 in scholarship money. Interested attendees can purchase tickets in advance for $45 or $55 at the door.
