Say What? As if Zara wasn’t already an example of piracy within the fashion business “allegedly”. Guess which popular retailor can be added to the list of “bootlegging” popular fashions in the marketplace, well according to sources Yung Lean‘s Sad Boy Collective has accused retailer Urban Outfitters of allegedly stealing its designs. The infamous jacket, seen down below, uses a sad face seen on a Yung Lean cap and a “Yoshi City Nights 2002″ logo. “Yoshi City” is the title of a Yung Lean song, he and the Sad Boys have used the sad face on many pieces of merch throughout the years.
In a post on Facebook, Sad Boys said:
“The discussion of big corporations feeding off small independent creators and their work is too vast and depressing to conduct here, so let´s settle with this, Yoshi city belongs to us and our true fans fuck u Urban Outfitters support the official sadboysgear.com + yungleangear.com”.
Urban Outfitters haven’t made a statement yet but, at the time of writing, the offending item appears to have been taken off the Urban Outfitters site.
Producer Yung Gud said with a tweet saying: “fuck @Urban Outfitters and everyone who bought this ugly ass jacket smh,” and a statement to Thump added: ““We don’t want to blame the fans buying the bootlegged gear, but rather inform them on where to buy the official gear in order to get the true experience on what we try to express in terms of music, art and clothing (and also directly support the artist that they like).”
Urban Outfitters has removed the item off their site, however you can still buy the authentic Sad Boys merch here.
